Energy-Efficiency Case Study

Moontower in Phoenix stands tall above the bustling backdrop of Arizona’s largest city. At 24 stories, this multifamily development is among the tallest buildings in the state. Sitting amid Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row Arts District, developers were looking for windows with a modern flavor that off ered top notch structural performance, and built-in eco-friendly qualities. The answer came in Quaker’s M600 Series.

Much of the views seen from Moontower are courtesy of M600 Series Project-Out and Fixed windows. Here are more details:

  • Nearly 570 windows of diff erent configurations and sizes.

  • 150+ continuous frame windows, all containing various combinations of operable Project-Outs and nonoperable Fixed windows. Also included were more than 400 singular window units — both Fixed and Project-Out

  • One of Quaker’s most popular colors — Dark Bronze — was the choice. Our standard 2604 finish was given the nod.

  • All operable windows contain limit travel devices for escalated safety

  • Quaker’s M600 Series, with its incorporation of recycled materials, helped the project attain LEED Silver status.

  • With the M600’s robust AW-70 ratings, developers received a firm peace of mind that the windows would hold strong against wind loads

  • Quaker’s Energy 3S Insulating Glass package delivered tremendous Solar Heat Gain coverage to combat Arizona’s sun-laden climate.

  • Initial product orders of 535+ windows were placed in February of 2022 with the expectation of a phased delivery schedule. Quaker made it work, with deliveries starting in April of that year and finishing a month later.

  • Accessories — subsill and receptors — were all pre-cut, packaged and shipped, saving installers jobsite time and labor

  • • Screens were shipped separately to avoid shipping damages

  • Clients ordered an extra 46 windows in March of 2023 (a year after their first orders) for an addition to the project.

Moontower PHX opened its doors in late 2023 to rave reviews. The project has since received multiple local and regional awards for design including CoStar’s 2024 Multifamily Development of the Year for the Phoenix area.
